At the start of January, I listed three goals I was hoping to achieve throughout the year. With the first quarter of the year now firmly behind us, it is time to take a look back and see what progress has been made.
- My first goal was related to my finances; I was planning to make $1,000 throughout the year from freelancing. I can happily say I made +$1,000 from freelancing in March alone! I wasn’t expecting to have this much success so soon, but I seemed to have the itch to write and I just went with it. I’m planning to devote a post to this topic coming up soon.
- Fitness: I am behind on my marathon training but will ramp things up in April to be ready for the late-May marathon in Ottawa. If I’m going to be taking ten minutes off of my time, I have some serious work to do between now and then.
- Musical: I will be parlaying a fraction of the $1,000 I made freelancing last month into a piano keyboard so I can get the ball rolling on that. I’ve been putting out some feelers on Kijiji for some used pieces and am waiting to close a deal. I will probably wind up picking up two keyboards if the price is right so I have one for my place while keeping one at Rick’s house as well.
April Challenge
Overall, I am optimistic about where things have gone this year. Taking down my financial goal for the year so soon is a success that I am hoping to build on going forward.
Consequently, I’ve decided to challenge myself to read five books this month that I have been putting off. As a serial-reader and -writer, I read a lot of blogs and online content. I’d like to take some time this month to get through a few trade paperbacks I have started over the past few months but not finished off. It’s a good time to tie up loose ends before the Summer gets underway. I may turn one or two of the reads into a Book Review as I have done in the past.
Thanks for taking the time to read about my goals.
